Materials used for mRNA synthesis
Yamasa started to sell pseudouridine in 1980s as a research reagent. Because of this long history, our psedouridine has been used for synthesis of mRNA since 2000s.
Even before the development of the current novel mRNA vaccine for COVID-19, mRNA had been researched and developed as vaccines or therapeutic drugs. Yamasa has been supplying pseudouridine for these researches, then started to supply it for COVID-19 in 2020 consequently.
Modified nucleic acids other than pseudouridine are also used in mRNA synthesis nowadays. Yamasa offers modified nucleic acids shown in the example. We can also provide new modified nucleic acids upon customers’ request, including process development.
